I absolutely loved my Note 7 and have been eagerly awaiting its successor. Is ths S8+ a worthy replacement? Let us see how the current Samsung contender stands up to its beloved predecessor.
Note 7 vs S8+ Round One: The Dimensions

The round is too close to call. I scored that round a draw, but notice that the S8+ is slightly taller, and narrower (which may make it appealing to smaller hands). However, the Note 7 is ever so slightly thinner and a smidge lighter in weight.
Note 7 vs S8+ Round Two: The Screensize

I scored this round in favor of the S8+. Although the crisp, vibrant display of the Note 7 was a force to be reckoned with, the increase in pixel density and tighter resolution is sure to fill your eyeballs with that much more wonder.
Note 7 vs S8+ Round Three: Under the Hood

The S8+ was granted this round due to the inevitable progression of technology. My Note 7 would not even have celebrated its 1st birthday and the chipset has already increased…. not by much, but still a gain.
Note 7 vs S8+ Round Four: Storage Capacity

A Close round, but a clear trend is developing. The obvious edge goes to the S8+ with its optional 128gb storage and 6gb or internal memory.

Fairly close in the early specs of the round. However the S8+ clearly flexes its muscle by outshining the Note 7 with its improved Selfie Camera.
Note 7 vs S8+ Round Six: The Audio

Despite human ears being limited to something around 20hz, nothing wrong with a little over-engineering. The formidable 24-bit/192kHz audio spec of the Note 7 simply sounds less impressive than the newer 32-bit/384kHz audio of the S8+. Whether or not we humans can hear the difference, remains to be seen.

The addition of the Samsung DeX (Desktop Experience) is something new and exiting, and almost a knockout blow, erasing the dismal days without my Note 7.

With so much riding on the “Battery” after the unfortunate demise of last year’s Note 7. You would imagine a drastically different spec. I couldn’t decide this round as my experience with the Note 7 in general was nothing short of spectacular.

Kudos to the Samsung design team. Last summer I was swept off my feet with the lines and contours of the Note 7. It was only available in 3 color options, but a fantastic phone. However the sleek low profile bevel, streamline curves, near frame-less design and twice as many color options make the S8+ a marvel to behold.
